View Top PicksThe Ultimate Space-Saver: A wall mounted fireplace TV stand is the perfect solution for modern living rooms, apartments, and smaller spaces. It eliminates bulky floor furniture while adding ambiance and supplemental heat. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know before you buy.
Why Choose a Wall Mounted Fireplace TV Stand?
A wall mounted fireplace TV stand, also known as a floating media console, is a furniture piece that mounts directly to your wall. It serves as a platform for your television and features an integrated electric fireplace. This design offers a unique blend of form and function that traditional TV stands cannot match. Unlike a standard modern TV stand with fireplace that sits on the floor, a wall-mounted unit creates an open, airy feeling in the room, making it an excellent choice for open-concept living areas.
Space-Saving Design
By mounting to the wall, these units free up valuable floor space, making your room feel larger and less cluttered. This is especially beneficial in apartments and smaller homes.
Modern Aesthetic
A floating console creates a sleek, contemporary look. The clean lines and suspended design add a touch of elegance that a traditional floor-standing unit cannot provide.
Ambiance & Supplemental Heat
The integrated electric fireplace provides cozy ambiance and can act as a supplemental heat source. This is ideal for zone heating your living room without warming the entire house.
Easy Installation
Most electric models are plug-and-play. They require no venting, gas lines, or complex chimney work, making them a simple DIY-friendly upgrade for any room.
Key Features to Consider Before Buying
Not all wall mounted fireplace TV stands are created equal. Understanding the following features will help you make an informed decision that fits your needs and space.
1. Size and Capacity
First, consider the size of your television. The stand's width should be at least as wide as your TV, but ideally a bit wider to create a balanced look. If you have a large TV, you may need to look for an entertainment center for 75-inch TV with fireplace or even a larger entertainment center for an 85-inch TV, though these are typically floor-standing. For wall-mounted units, they are generally designed for TVs up to 65 or 75 inches. Check the weight capacity of the stand to ensure it can safely support your TV and other media components.
2. Heating and Power
The primary function of the fireplace is ambiance, but many models offer effective heating. Look for the BTU (British Thermal Unit) rating to understand heating capacity. A higher BTU means more heat. Most units can heat an area between 400 and 1,000 square feet. If you want a powerful heater, a high BTU electric fireplace insert might be a better choice, but wall-mounted units can still provide meaningful supplemental warmth. Check if the unit has a thermostat and a blower for more efficient heat distribution. Some models offer a realistic flame effect with crackling sound for added authenticity.
3. Installation and Mounting
Proper installation is critical for safety. These are heavy pieces of furniture, and they must be securely fastened. You will need to mount it into wall studs. If studs are not available in your desired location, you will need to use heavy-duty toggle bolts or drywall anchors designed for high weight loads. Always check the manufacturer's instructions. A professional installation is recommended if you are unsure about your ability to mount it safely. This is not a project for a simple DIY faux fireplace setup.
4. Style and Finish
Wall mounted fireplace TV stands come in a variety of finishes, including black, white, and wood grain. A white fireplace finish can brighten a room and create a modern look. The fireplace itself may feature a linear design or a more traditional log set. Consider the overall decor of your room to choose a unit that complements your style. For a cohesive look, consider adding a fireplace mantel or other fireplace accessories.

It is a floating media console that is attached to the wall. It holds your TV and includes an electric fireplace, offering a space-saving and stylish solution for your living room.
Do wall mounted fireplace TV stands provide good heat?
Most use electric heaters, which are excellent for zone heating. They can effectively warm a room of around 400 square feet, making them a great supplemental heat source. For whole-home heating, a central system is still required.
Are wall mounted fireplace TV stands safe to install?
Yes, they are safe when installed correctly. It is crucial to secure them into wall studs or use heavy-duty drywall anchors. Always follow the manufacturer's guide. If in doubt, hire a professional.
Can I put a TV above the fireplace on a wall mounted unit?
